Leave A Ding

October 6, 2011

This week saw the passing of Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple. Without question, he was a visionary and titan of business. Time magazine even stopped the presses for the first time in twenty years to change the cover and lead story. His inventions and impact on so much of our technology is significant. Now, I am more of a Microsoft guy, so I don’t have the intimate impact with his products that many people do, but no doubt it’s huge. One of his mottos was ”to be insanely great,” and I am sure he was. When asked what he wanted his legacy to be, he said it was “to leave a ding on the universe.” I thought that was pretty cool. That sounds a lot like what the Lord asks us all to do. Christ calls us to leave a ding on this world. For each of us that ding could be very different. Jobs also said in a commencement speech in 2005 that “time is limited, don’t waste it leading someone else’s life.” That’s pretty solid advise.
